Our experience in the breeding of registered Angus cattle dates back to 1950 and we have "first hand" experience in following the Angus breeding trends that have changed from one extreme to the other over the last 50 years.  As serious Angus breeders, we have been continuously disappointed with the end results of these drastic trait swings and in 1990 we made the decision to develop a unique line of beef cattle that would meet our practical goals.

The Angus division of our breeding program is the result of two years' worth of research to secure a small, select nucleus of registered Angus females and semen from proven Angus sires to match.  We found this foundation in the WYE ANGUS herd at Queenstown, MD. and they are probably the only group of this kind in the world.  This herd, known as "The Breed of Noble Bloods", was founded in 1938 and has been "closed" since 1959.  Our decision has proven to be a wise choice because the resulting composites are of an actually greater genetic value than we originally anticipated.  The maternal strength of our direct WYE ANGUS foundation stock is the key to the superior females and  unique seed-stock we are producting.

In 1990 we also began our venture into the ultimate terminal beef breed, the Belgian Blue.  As a breed, the Belgian Blue has the distinction, verified by the U.S.D.A., of producing the most pounds of retail meat per beef animal, the leanest meat of all beef stock, the most tender meat of any breed, and the most feed efficient of any cattle.  These facts, along with the pure tastiness of their meat, make the Belgian Blue cattle a force to be reckoned with.

We proceeded with a selected core of proven Belgian Blue females and herd sires from the best of both the "English" and "Belgian" types of genetics.  The true distinction between these two "types" are the calving ease of the "English" model and the "pure muscle" of the "Belgian" model.

Our terminal beef cornerstone was laid and the marriage of these two value based breed opposites - our "closed" herd of predominately maternal Angus and the genetically superior terminal Belgian Blue - is proving, by production, to be a near perfect composite beef animal that meets and exceeds all of the requirements of today's demanding beef industry.
